Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 27, 20261. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how AMC Recalls ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information in connection with your use of the AMC Recalls website (the "Service"). AMC Recalls is operated by private individuals based in New Zealand.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and the Information Privacy Principles it sets out. We built this Service to be free and accessible, and we collect as little personal information as possible to run it.
2. Information We Collect
The Service does not require account registration or signup, and you can browse recall questions and study articles without providing any personal information. We do not use analytics or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
We collect limited information in only two situations:
- Contact form and email: if you contact us through our contact form or by email, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, and the content of your message. Contact form submissions are delivered to and stored in our email inbox, which is hosted by Google (Gmail).
- Server logs: our web server automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages requested. These logs are generated by the server software itself and are used only to keep the Service running and secure.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect only to:
- Respond to questions or messages you send us;
- Keep the Service running, secure, and free from abuse;
- Diagnose technical faults and investigate suspicious activity.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for marketing purposes, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Service does not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies. Any cookies set are strictly necessary for the website to function.
5. Sharing of Information
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be handled by:
- Google, as the provider of the email inbox that receives our contact form submissions and correspondence, in accordance with Google's own privacy terms;
- Authorities or other parties, where required to comply with a legal obligation or to protect the rights, safety, or property of AMC Recalls, our users, or others.
We run our own server rather than using a third-party analytics or content platform, so no other provider receives visitor information from us.
6. Storage and Overseas Disclosure
The Service runs on a virtual private server that we manage ourselves, located in Australia. Email sent to us is stored on Google's systems, which are located outside New Zealand.
Where personal information is stored or processed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is subject to safeguards comparable to those required under the Privacy Act 2020.
7. Data Retention
We keep correspondence only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and any follow-up, and delete it once it is no longer required. Server logs are retained only for a short period for security and troubleshooting purposes before being overwritten or deleted.
8. Data Security and Privacy Breaches
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information from loss, unauthorised access, or misuse, including keeping our server software up to date and restricting who can access it. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If a privacy breach occurs that we believe is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and any affected individuals, as required under the Privacy Act 2020.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for individuals preparing for a professional medical licensing exam and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to request correction of that information if it is inaccurate. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 20 working days, as required by the Act.
If you are located in the European Union or the United Kingdom, additional rights may apply to you under the GDPR or UK GDPR, including rights to erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability. We will honour such requests where those laws apply to us.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your personal information or your request, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or our practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, or wish to make a privacy request, you can reach us through the contact form on our website, or by email at amcrecalls1@gmail.com.
