AMC registration from India and Pakistan: EPIC verification, the AMC portfolio and booking with Pearson VUE, step by step
By the AMC Recalls team. Updated .
AMC registration means opening an AMC account, getting your MBBS verified at source through ECFMG's EPIC service, paying AUD 642 for an AMC portfolio, and then paying AUD 2,920 for authorisation to sit the AMC exam, which you book yourself with Pearson VUE. That is the whole process. It is not Ahpra registration, which comes much later, and it is not the AMC exam itself. From Delhi, Karachi or Lahore the paperwork takes four to eight weeks if your university answers ECFMG promptly, and several months if it does not. The costs before you sit a single question come to about ₹2.2 lakh or PKR 7 lakh.
Step 1: confirm you are eligible before you pay anything
The AMC's eligibility checker asks for three things: your medical school, your exact degree title, and your year of graduation. All three must match a listing the AMC recognises. Indian and Pakistani MBBS degrees from established colleges almost always match. Where South Asian applicants get stuck is newer private colleges that have not yet been listed, and degree titles that differ between your certificate and the listing. Check the tool first; the AUD 642 portfolio fee is not refunded if your school turns out to be unrecognised.
You do not need an internship, a house job, NEET-PG, FMGE, FCPS or an English test for AMC registration or to sit AMC Part 1. You do need a conferred degree. Final-year students cannot start.
Step 2: MyIntealth and EPIC with ECFMG
The AMC does not verify your degree itself. It uses ECFMG's EPIC service, so your second account is with ECFMG, not the AMC.
1Create a MyIntealth account at ECFMG. Your MyIntealth ID arrives in about three business days. The account fee includes online notarisation of your identity form, which replaces the old notary-stamp process that used to cost Indian applicants weeks. 2Open an EPIC portfolio and upload your MBBS degree certificate for primary source verification.
3Nominate the Australian Medical Council as the organisation to receive the verification report.
At ECFMG's fees from 1 April 2026, the four charges come to roughly USD 315: MyIntealth account USD 110, EPIC portfolio USD 35, degree verification USD 110, report to the AMC USD 60. Call it ₹27,000 or PKR 90,000, and add the 2 to 3.5 percent your bank takes on a foreign-currency card payment.
This is the slow step, and it is slow for a South Asian reason. ECFMG writes to the university that awarded your degree, and some Indian and Pakistani universities take weeks or months to answer. You can shorten it by emailing your university's examination or registrar section first, telling them to expect the ECFMG request, and giving them your roll number and year. Many universities now have a dedicated desk for this.
Step 3: your AMC account and the initial portfolio
Once you have a MyIntealth ID, create your AMC account on the AMC portal and open an initial portfolio. The fee is AUD 642 and includes one qualification; each extra qualification is AUD 107. The AMC reviews a complete portfolio within five business days and tells you which pathway you are on. For an Indian or Pakistani MBBS graduate without PLAB or USMLE that is the Standard pathway, which means the AMC MCQ and then the Clinical exam or a WBA.
Documents you upload: passport, MBBS degree, final transcript or marksheets, and your NMC or State Medical Council registration (India) or PMDC registration (Pakistan) if you have it. Registration certificates are not required to sit the AMC exam, but having them in the portfolio saves a round of questions later.
The name problem. Your passport, degree and ECFMG record must show the same name in the same order. "Mohammed" on one and "Muhammad" on another, a missing surname on a degree, or a father's name used as a surname will stop the file. Fix the mismatch with an affidavit or a corrected certificate before you submit, not after.
Step 4: pay for AMC MCQ authorisation
With the portfolio accepted, apply in your AMC account for an AMC CAT MCQ authorisation. It costs AUD 2,920, about ₹1.6 lakh or PKR 5.3 lakh, and it is valid for 12 months and one attempt. If you do not sit within 12 months the fee is gone; if you cancel with evidence, you get 75 percent back within a month of paying and 50 percent after that. The AMC removed its card surcharge on 1 October 2026, so the amount you see is the amount charged. Every fee and refund rule is in the AMC exam fees in rupees guide.
Pay this when you are three to six months from ready, not the day your portfolio clears. A doctor who pays in month one and is not ready in month twelve has donated ₹1.6 lakh to the AMC.
Step 5: book with Pearson VUE
After authorisation, the AMC passes your record to Pearson VUE and you receive an email telling you to schedule. Log in to Pearson VUE, choose an event month, then a centre, then a day and time. The AMC exam runs monthly from February to November, Monday to Saturday in each event week, and scheduling closes about three weeks before the exam week. Every closing date through September 2027 is in the AMC exam dates 2026–2027 guide.
India: Pearson VUE centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. They fill two
to three months out for the February, July and November events.
Pakistan: Lahore is the listed centre and seats have been limited. Book the day your
authorisation email lands. Fallback: Dubai, or any Indian metro with seats. The exam, the fee and the result are identical
wherever you sit.
Changing centre or date is free before the closing date and is done with Pearson VUE, not the AMC. Download your placement letter and keep it with the passport you registered with.
How long AMC registration takes from India or Pakistan
| Stage | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Eligibility check | Same day |
| MyIntealth ID | About 3 business days |
| EPIC verification from your | 2 weeks to several months |
university
| AMC portfolio review | Up to 5 business days |
|---|---|
| MCQ authorisation | Same day once portfolio is accepted |
| Pearson VUE seat | Depends on centre; book 2 to 3 months ahead |
Four to eight weeks is realistic if you chase your university. Start the ECFMG step first and use the waiting time on questions; the AMC CAT MCQ format is different enough from NEET-PG and FCPS that the earlier you meet it the better.
What AMC registration is not
It is not Ahpra registration. Ahpra and the Medical Board register you to practise, and that happens after the AMC exam, a job offer and an English test. The jobs after AMC Part 1 guide explains limited registration and what it needs. And "AMC registration" is not a licence: the AMC Certificate you earn after both parts is a qualification, not a right to work.
What to do this week
1Run your college and degree through the AMC eligibility tool.
2Open MyIntealth and start EPIC today; email your university's registrar the same afternoon.
3Budget ₹2.2 lakh or PKR 7 lakh for ECFMG, the portfolio and the AMC MCQ fee.
4While verification runs, sit a free monthly set on AMC Recalls so you know what the AMC exam asks before you commit the ₹1.6 lakh.
Frequently asked questions
How do I register for the AMC exam from India?
Check eligibility, create MyIntealth and EPIC with ECFMG, open an AMC account and portfolio (AUD 642), apply for AMC MCQ authorisation (AUD 2,920), then book a Pearson VUE centre in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad.
How do I register for the AMC exam from Pakistan?
Identical steps. Lahore is the listed Pearson VUE centre, with limited seats, and Dubai or an Indian centre is the fallback. PMDC registration is useful in your portfolio but not required to sit.
What is the AMC registration fee?
AUD 642 for the initial portfolio, about ₹35,000 or PKR 1.2 lakh, plus AUD 107 per extra qualification. The AMC exam fee is separate: AUD 2,920 for MCQ authorisation.
What documents do I need for AMC registration?
Passport, MBBS degree certificate, final transcript, and your NMC, State Medical Council or PMDC registration if you have one. ECFMG also needs your degree for EPIC verification.
Do I need an internship or NEET-PG for AMC registration?
No. Neither an internship nor any postgraduate entrance exam is required to register or to sit the AMC exam.
How long does AMC registration take?
Four to eight weeks from India or Pakistan when your university answers ECFMG quickly. The EPIC verification is the only step you cannot speed up yourself, beyond warning the university it is coming.
Is AMC registration the same as Ahpra registration?
No. AMC registration is opening your file with the Australian Medical Council to sit the AMC exam. Ahpra registration is the licence to practise, applied for after you pass and have a job offer.
